Touching the Face of God

Society it would seem is on a terrible spiral of self-gratification. It’s in the texts we send and the never ending inane conversations of where the next party will be or who’s wearing what. The lack of contemplation of who we are and what we will become is driving the human race back to the days of cave dwelling. What can we do about it?
The youth of the world are so lost in immediate gratification that they appear soulless. Superficiality is the call to arms in today’s money driven society. Greed is the synonym for politicians. Control is the synonym for religion. Wasted is the synonym for youth. Why is that?
Our job in being human is to lift ourselves up and become something better tomorrow than what we are today. Faith, love, curiosity, imagination, altruism, exploration…are the tools by which we grow. Filling the needs of our physical nature stands in opposition to growth. There is no love or joy in wandering this planet as slaves to the empty fulfillment that physical needs demand. Filling the needs of our physical nature, while it may seem appropriate at the time, over long run accomplishes nothing for our spirits. Indeed doing this too often can actually be harmful to others around us if our actions cause us to be neglectful.
We grow when we shake our fists at governmental corruption, and stand in opposition to the disgusting attempt by Hollywood to mold society into their low moral renditions. We are better than that. Indeed we are more than that.
We need to look within ourselves and find that spiritual spark of who we really are. Then we need to fan that spark and let it grow to consume our wasted physical needs. We should all stand on the precipice of devolving human society and say, "no more". Reach out to one another and give comfort. Be patient. Be kind. Give love to a world that would rather kill itself off than face another torturous day of empty desires.
Encourage each other to grow. Reach beyond our grasp and let hope and faith lead us toward a positive human evolution based on spiritual growth. Climb up on the rock of love and face eternity with the knowledge that we have added more than we took. Then as we stand upon that rock and surmise the joy we have brought, then we can turn to our spirits and boldly reach out and touch the face of God.
